Gael Monfils, who retired with a wrist problem at the US Open, decided to make his return on the ATP Challenger circuit—and it paid off.

The 32-year-old Frenchman won the $150,000 event in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, defeating fellow former Top 10 player Ernests Gulbis along the way. None of his other opponents were ranked in the Top 150, but Monfils was pleased with his week nonetheless.
