WATCH—Court Report - Nov. 21:

Simona Halep says she doesn’t plan to have a new coach by the start of next season, preferring to play some events on her own.

The world No. 1 had been coached by Darren Cahill since the beginning of 2017, but the experienced Australian announced recently that he will not work with Halep next year as he wants to take a year off to spend time with his children.

“I thought about it and I will not have a coach in the following period. I want to go to some tournaments on my own and we’ll see how that goes,” Halep told Romanian press.

The 27-year-old won the French Open this season to capture her first Grand Slam title, having reached the No. 1 ranking in 2017.
