John Isner withdraws from Roland Garros due to left foot injury

The American No. 1 is still healing a stress fracture sustained in the Miami Open final.

John Isner announced Friday on Twitter that he will not play Roland Garros due to a stress fracture in his left foot sustained during March's Miami Open final against Roger Federer.

Although he is disappointed, Isner remains in excellent spirits. In his announcement he stated, “While missing Grand Slams is not something I’m accustomed to, I’ve been fortunate to have such a clean bill of health my whole career. This is a bump in the road and I’m certain I will fully recover.”

Isner expects to be back at full strength by Wimbledon, where is defending semifinal points. In the meantime, the 34-year-old is enjoying spending time at home with his seven-month old daughter Hunter Grace.
