Cristian Garin entered the 2019 French Open as a serious threat and a popular dark-horse pick among the experts. Stan Wawrinka must not have heard them. The 2015 French Open champion completely demolished the talented Chilean, dominating every aspect of the match from start to finish en route to a 6-1, 6-4, 6-0 win.

"I was really aggressive, moving much better than the first round... I think I have been playing really well," Stan said when asked about his impressive performance. "It's for sure one of the best matches I've played in the last few months, the most complete match, also."

Garin enjoyed tremendous success this clay-court season, racking up two titles and 19 total wins on the dirt. None of those wins came against a player of Wawrinka’s caliber, however. Wawrinka was on a completely different level on Wednesday, and this match wasn't close, not even for a moment.

The Swiss hardly broke a sweat and should now have everyone’s undivided attention heading into the third round. The oddsmakers pegged Wawrinka as an 80/1 favorite to win the title, which will surely change after his impressive display today.

"I know how well I can play here... this is just one match, I just want to be ready for the next one."

Wawrinka will face Grigor Dimitrov, who defeated Marin Cilic in five sets, in the third round.
