1. Roger Federer defeated Italy's Lorenzo Sonego, 6-2, 6-4, 6-4. Although he has stated he doesn't know what to expect, the Swiss is certainly playing to win his 21st Grand Slam title.

2. Frenchman Nicolas Mahut almost gave back his wild card. Good thing he didn't, because he scored one of the biggest wins of his career against 2018 semifinalist Marco Cecchinato, 2-6, 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-2, 6-4. It took over three hours to get the win, with Mahut receiving a standing ovation from the home crowd and a hug from his son.
