Ashleigh Barty extended her winning streak to nine matches by posting a 6-3, 6-1 win over Jennifer Brady in Birmingham.

During her French Open title run, the 2011 junior Wimbledon champion had been itching to hit the grass-courts.

"Once I get back on the grass, I feel like a different person. You know, it's a different tennis match, a different way that the ball is struck and it comes through,” said Barty after her first-round win. “But I feel extremely comfortable on it.

"And I know that it doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to have results or I'm going to feel great on the court straightaway, but certainly knowing that there is not pressure for me and no real worries and stresses about the transition makes it a lot easier.”

The 23-year-old Aussie took control of the round-of-16 encounter from the get-go, pushing Brady to make errors early on. Barty didn't face a break point in the first set. Despite a rain interruption in the second game of the second set, she did not lose the momentum and won the next five games to close out the match.

"I feel like I'm playing some great tennis. I think the work that we have been doing over the last, you know, 12 to 18 months in particular but over the last three years is kind of all coming together," said Barty. "The stars have aligned a little bit for me, and I think when you get those opportunities you have to do your best to take them with both hands."

For a spot in the semifinals, Barty will play either Venus five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams or Wang Qiang.
