As the second-week continues, fewer and fewer remain. These are the Top 5 photos that sum up all the action from day nine at the US Open.

1.  Serena Williams blitzed through her quarterfinal match against Wang Qiang, 6-1, 6-0, to claim her 100th US Open victory and 88th win on Arthur Ashe Stadium. Williams was sharp in every single category and didn't hold back on any of her shots. The 23-time Grand Slam Champion will take on Elina Svitolina. The two last faced in the 2016 Olympics, with Svitolina winning, 6-4, 6-3.

2. It was just three months ago when Svitolina held a 0-4 record in Grand Slam quarterfinals. The No. 5 seed snapped that streak with back-to-back major quarterfinal victories at Wimbledon and now Flushing Meadows. Svitolina advanced past Johanna Konta, 6-4, 6-4, and is now 5-0 against the Brit.

3. Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies two matches away from capturing their second Grand Slam title. The Germans defeated Joao Sousa and Leonardo Mayer, 7-6 (4) 6-4, to move into the semifinals. Since their French Open triumph earlier this year, the doubles tandem have played eight tournaments, failing to advance past the second round. However, the Germans couldn't have picked a better time to regain their form to peak in New York.

4. Tom Hiddleston returned to the US Open to cheer on Konta for the third time this tournament. The Avengers actor made time from his busy day of rehearsing for an upcoming Broadway play "Betrayal" to support the Brit. Konta battled but struggled to put balls in the court against Svitolina.

5. Daniil Medvedev is into the final four at a Grand Slam for the first time in his career. The Russian battled past 2016 champion Stan Wawrinka, 7-6 (6), 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, during the day session on Arthur Ashe Stadium. The Cincinnati champion is having a tremendous summer hard-court season (now 19-2) and improved his tour-leading total to 49 wins this year. It seems the rowdy New York crowd might be won over if he continues performing like this.
