Here, a quartet of newsy amuse-bouches for what's taking place away from the pro courts, as we're all counting down the days until the Australian hard-court swing commences.
CANDY HYPE Maybe we don't realize just how absurd a word like Sugarpova can be until we are faced with the likes of WozniTaffy, ClijStix, and WilliGums. No word on whether the Who Wants to Be A Millionaire contestant answered the query correctly, but he appears to be grimacing good-naturedly. [via @thedoublebagel]
CSI = CRIME SCENE INSTAGRAMMED? One wonders why CSI doesn't keep wraps on its forthcoming episodes better, say, by issuing gag orders to its guest stars. Justin Gimelstob, @jgimel on Instagram, continues to share spoilers as to plot points of his January installment of the show with Chris Evert, Lindsay Davenport, and series stars Ted Danson and Elisabeth Shue. Here are Exhibits A ... and B.
In another image uploaded to his mobile photo account, Gimelstob also shared that he serves as suspect No. 1 on the episode. One can deduce from all the blood stains that the female co-star he's pictured with gets "the axe," as it were.
WEDDING BELLS The joys of marriage keep coming for ATP players, as Aussie Matt Ebden became the latest to tie the knot, at no less a locale than the Secret Garden (how romantic). Ebden, a frequent doubles partner to budding young gun Ryan Harrison, joins James Blake, Mike Bryan, and (we missed this one until now) Rohan Bopanna on the freshly-married roster.
FROM THE VAULT Remember Venus & Serena: For Real? The 2005 reality show on ABC Family showed the behind-the-scenes lives of the Williams sisters as they managed their business operations (V Starr Interiors, for one) and shot commercials (for the likes of hyper-healthy McDonald's) and swung freely on the professional tennis court. Enjoy this nearly nine-minute snippet, all worth it for the hilariously awkward juxtaposition of Serena talking shop at a board-room table as men in suits pass around undergarments and, later, Serena's quip to Venus on the set, "If you were a good actress, we wouldn't have to be worried about this."
