Garbiñe Muguruza checked in from her tennis sabbatical to share happy news with fans, announcing her engagement with longtime boyfriend Arthur Borges.

"We would like it to be next year, in the summer, near the beach and in Spain, because it is the place that most unites us," she said of the imminent wedding in an exclusive with ¡Hola!, a Spanish-language publication.

Borges has been by Muguruza’s side through some of the biggest highs of her career—including a resurgent run to the 2021 WTA Finals title and return to No. 3 in the WTA rankings, and for some of the more recent lows that led the former world No. 1 to step away from the sport.

“Spending time with family and friends and it's really been healthy and amazing so I am going to lengthen this period till summer,” she posted to her Instagram stories to announce she would likely miss the clay and grass swings.

“Thanks for all the lovely messages and will be updating you guys.”

Muguruza and Borges have made the most of her time removed from the grueling tennis calendar, taking part in the Seville Fair at the end of April.

The two-time Grand Slam champion most recently spent a week in Geneva, Switzerland, showing off some happy selfies amidst the city’s historic architecture.

Might Muguruza return this summer to show off her new engagement ring?
