Marketa Vondrousova's historic Wimbledon triumph was met with kudos to match it from the tennis family.

With a straight sets win over Ons Jabeur in Saturday's final, the 24-year-old became the first unseeded woman to win at the All England Club in the Open Era, and joined Jana Novotna and Petra Kvitova as Czech women's champions at the grass-court major.

Kvitova, in fact, was a player who led the tributes to both players on social media.

"Congratulations Marketa!" Kvitova wrote. "A huge moment for you and Czech tennis. Enjoy every moment of this victory."

To Jabeur, Kvitova added: "And Ons, sending a big hug, your time will come for sure."

Kvitova was joined in commenting on the final by another active Grand Slam champion: world No. 1 Iga Swiatek.

"Amazing tournament Marketa! Congratulations, " Swiatek tweeted, as she also put in a request for a follow-up on the now-famous bet that Vondrousova had with her coach. If she won a Grand Slam, Vondrousova said, her coach would join the tattoo afficianado in getting some fresh ink.

"Just show us [your] coach tattoo!" Swiatek said.

Also jumping on the bandwagon were active players like Victoria Azarenka, Caroline Garcia and Daria Saville, to past major champions like Billie Jean King and Ana Ivanovic.

King and Martina Navratilova were among the luminaries on Centre Court who watched the final live.

"Despite a strong start, @Ons_Jabeur faced difficulties executing her strategy against Vondrousova's strong & varied game," Ivanovic wrote. "Congrats to Marketa #Vondrousova for a well-deserved victory. Also hats off Ons - youโ€™ll make it one day! Keep shining."

Not all of the praise for Vondrousova came from social media. Some of it was face-to-face. After being presented the Venus Rosewater Dish by the Princess of Wales, the pair shared a chat in the clubhouse.

"This is why we love Wimbledon," the official account for Kensington Palace shared. "An amazing performance from both players. Well done Marketa Vondrousova on your first Wimbledon title! And Ons Jabeur you can keep your head held high after a tournament to be proud of."
